EDF Renewables
CHP’s relationship with EDF Renewables started in 2012 with commercial support on the 48 turbine Fallago Rig project. Previously, EDF had used project managers throughout end-to-end delivery of their wind farm projects. However, when the CHP team stepped in, it became immediately apparent to the client how the QS specialism was far more beneficial and necessary to the commercial management of their projects. From investment appraisals to post contract involvement, the intricacies and scale of bringing a wind farm to life benefit from every tier of the QS delivery process.
Since 2012, CHP has worked on an ever-growing list of onshore and offshore projects across the UK that, to date, boast a combined total of over 220 turbines. EDF estimate that this quantity of turbines can produce enough energy to power nearly 400,000 homes annually.
In association with the EDF development, construction and finance teams, CHP has established, implemented and maintained construction cost management processes for budgeting and commercial management of wind farm projects. This has included procurement, cost planning, cost management and cost reporting processes, forms and documents.

Achievement
Exceptional Health & Safety success rate on every project. All projects delivered to cost, time and quality requirements of the client
Challenge
Some of the locations of projects have been in hard to access, weather constrained areas, which have applied additional cost and time pressures in some cases
