Dorenell Wind Farm
Dorenell, which is by far the largest (both in turbine and MW capacity) onshore wind farm project that CHP has worked on to date, comprises 59 turbines and is situated just outside Dufftown, Scotland. Commissioned in March 2019, the site’s full generating capacity is 177MW, which according to statistics can power around 106,000 homes a year. The individual turbine rating is 3MW and the turbines have a tip height of 126m. The construction works, which were finalised in 2019, included the construction of over 40km of access tracks and a substation including 132kV transformers, STATCOM and DNO equipment/plant.
CHP was involved from initial investment appraisal stage to close out of the final accounts. CHP provided construction related cost planning, cost management and cost reporting services and managed the procurement of the Balance of Plant works contractors, including consideration of various alternative turbine options. CHP was also responsible for the commercial management of all construction operations.
The largest EDF wind farm in Europe. Specialist environmental measures necessitated protection of wildlife. The location of this site meant that harsh winter weather conditions were anticipated and encountered. Extensive off-site highway enabling works were required. Consideration of various turbine options
This is the largest onshore wind farm developed by EDF in Europe and its delivery in terms of safety, cost, time and quality met all the Client’s requirements
